Why I Am Here

As a dancer who has had a long stage career from age 16 to 66 – my most recent performance was in 2024 at the Kennedy Center and the Lincoln Center-I’m well aware of what kind of maintenance. My body needs to be healthy, strong and flexible. And I would like that to share that with people who are newcomers people who just want to feel better and people who are experienced athletes.

How Sharon Started

I started taking ballet lessons at age 9, and at age 15 was chosen by a ballet master who came to my hometown in Flint, Michigan. His name was Milenko Banovićh. He told my mother that I had a talent of one in 10,000 and that I needed serious training. I went to New York where I was on scholarship at the School of American Ballet where George Balanchine was the director at that time.

Why Does She Dance?

It was a passion I felt as a young child that I have been fortunate enough to hone and develop to become an artist and a performer for over 50 years.

How Long Has Sharon Been Teaching Dance and Alternate Modalities

I was a Dancer in professional Ballet companies on the East Coast and then I went into the field of Cabaret Exhibition dancing, which is similar to Pairs Skating but not on ice.

Sharon's Championship Titles

  • I became a 3x World champion, a 4x Blackpool (British Open) Champion
  • A 7x U.S. National Champion in Cabaret Exhibition
  • Star Search champion with several different partners

Post Competitive Career

After I retired from competition, I continued to teach and coach ballet dancers, ice, skaters, golfers, ballroom dancers, and just people who want to get into better shape. I also turned to writing to have a creative outlet.

My biography. “ Ballroom! Obsession and Passion Inside the World of Competitive Dance“ was published in 2010 by University Press of Florida. I have subsequently written other people‘s biographies and life stories as well as written several fiction books various topics, and my current passion is the dance musical that I have written and am producing.
